Mike Mukula Jr. and co-driver Edward Kiyinji in their Subaru Impreza N12 won the second round of the Autocross championship 4*4 challenge that was held on Sunday, 12 June 2022 in the open class. Mukula is steady on his way to being one of the drivers to watch out for this year, with impressive times and speed, the team is building up to be ones to watch.

Mukula and Kiyinji finished the heat one in just under 04:27.9 and heat two in 04:11.2, doing a total time of 08:39.1. They finished in third place in the first round that was held in Kalisizo. The MPU organized event was delayed due to rain but this didn’t stop the competitors from putting on a fight for the top spots. Mukula is currently leading the Clubman Rally Championship (CRC) category and this is yet another win added onto his year. Many motorsport fans and competitors are looking to see how great an impact he will have as his father is also a veteran motorsport driver-Captain Mike Mukula Sr.

Round one winner came in second place this time; Fulcrum racing’s Mark Lubega and co-driver Daniel Mbabazi in their Subaru Impreza N10 finished in second place 18seconds behind Mukula (18.8). They completed heat one in 04:39.0 and heat two in 04:18.8 doing a total time of 08:57.9. The crew lost some time in the second heat which cost them in the end. Mark Lubega is the son of rally driver Charlie Lubega who used to race years back in the 1990s. In third place, also from Fulcrum racing team was Andy Musoke navigated by Richard Ssengendo in a Mitsubishi Evo7; they did a total time of 09:02.2.


In fourth place was Mustapha Mukasa navigated by Mildred Kibuuka in a Subaru Impreza N12 with a total time of 09:49.5. Rounding out the top five was Godfrey Kiyimba who won the Cadet class navigated by Urban Mulindwa in a Subaru Impreza N8 with a time of 10:11.6. Moses Okello and co-driver Ismail Musoke came in second place in the cadet class; Allan Were and co-driver Khuzainat Nakanwaji closed out the top three. Joshua Muwanguzi and navigator Ritah Nakigozi were fourth and Hajji Gasemba closed out the top five. There were two categories run on the day, the open class and the cadet class, the 4*4 challenge saw two competitors only.

The crews are gearing up for the next round of the National Rally Championship round four, scheduled for early July.
