Jonas Kansiime and co-driver Ronald Bukenya are the winners of the Autocross Championship 2023 after the penultimate round took place in Rukaari-Mbarara on Sunday, 05 November. This is Kansiime’s second autocross championship (he won his first one in 2021) but his first with Ronald Bukenya; the team finished in second place overall in their Mitsubishi Lancer Evo 8 with a time of 0:09:25:40. There was a time difference of 0:00:07:90 between Kansiime and Ssebuguzi. Kansiime came in first place in the MOSAC Gomba round, and in Kagga accruing a total of 69 points after his second-place finish in Mbarara.
Ronald Ssebugizi and co-driver Anthony Mugambwa won the event in their Ford Fiesta Proto with a time of 0:09:17:50. Ssebuguzi won both heat one and two doing 0:04:35:80 and 0:04:41:70. Musa Ssegaabwe navigated by Mathias Kiyegga closed out the podium in third place in their Mitsubishi Lancer Evo 9 with a time of 0:09:34:70 ( they competed in the Cadet class.) In fourth place was Duncan Mubiru navigated by Siraje Kyambadde in their Ford Fiesta Proto and Joshua Muwanguzi navigated by Asuman Muhammad.
The Junior class was won by Kevin Bebeto navigated by Musa Nsubuga in their Toyota Run X. Ahmed Kateete navigated by sister Shadia Kateete were second in the junior class and the two youngsters were the only ones to compete in the category. The Kateete siblings are venturing into motorsport following in their father’s footsteps (Abdul Kateete).
The event also had the fourth round of the Enduro 4*4 Championship running; Scott Nicholson came out on top of everyone in the overall classifications after ten laps on his KTM, Ya-asin Semakula was second and Sharifah Kateete third. On the Junior track (class J1), Miguel Katende came out on top of everyone on his KTM 85 SX after fifteen laps, Jerome Mubiru was second also on a KTM 85 SX with fifteen laps as well, and Jonathan Katende finished third on a KTM 65 SX with a total of fifteen laps too. Talha Kateete was fourth on a Kawasaki KX 65 with fourteen laps and Keith Deedan Aine closed out the class in fifth on a Hursqvarna TC 85 with nine laps. Class J2 was won by Jason Burrows, Class 1 was won by Ya-asin Ssemakula, and Scott Nicholson won Class 2.
