The first FIM Africa challenge for central Africa, Central Africa Motocross Championship (CAC) is slated for April 17 2022 at the Victoria race way park at Garuga, which will be Easter Sunday. Uganda is the defending champion in this event where they won back in 2019 in Nairobi.
This is also the national MX third round of competition on the calendar but will be bigger and more competitive given Uganda will be competing to pick up points for MXOAN later in August. Team Uganda will be competing with crews from Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, and Democratic Republic of Uganda.
Organized by the Federation of Motorsport Uganda (FMU) and Speedway Motorsport Club (SMOC) alongside various sponsors led by Mountain Dew but supported by Vision Group which will give all the winners in each category a TVS Motorcycle courtesy of the Yuvraj International company. Other sponsors of the event are Lato milk, Biyinzika poultry, Uganda lodges, Fotogenix limited, Nbs television, Uganda MX School, Fire and safety appliances among others.
Team Uganda will be represented by its very talented riders in the different categories like the Katende brothers-Miguel and Jonathan, the Ntale brothers-Liam and Lionelle, Ally Kimera in the 65cc class, Jerome Mubiru, Mubarak Senoga Mayanja, Ron Young, Keith Deedan in 85cc, Filbert Muwonge, Jamairah Makumbi, Ethan James Blick, Abdul Malik Wagaba in 50cc, Kylan Wekesa, Ashim Sserwada, Sharifah Kateete, Jingo Robert in MX2, Tony Benders, Milton Obote Akena, Trevor Kugonza, Shadia Kateete in MX125, Alestair Blick, Maxim Van Pee returning for the first time this season, Damba Abdul in MX1, and Veterans like Arthur Blick Jr., Andrea Marinelli, Christian Milleti.
Majority of the Kenyan team has arrived and competing this time around are riders like; Lewis Ogonyi, Kigen Mutuma, Ngengi Kamau in the 65cc, Dylan Hatanga, Kyla Blessing, Armani Amani, Uhrie Yongo, and Emir Ramadhani in 50cc, Wahome Mutahi, Natalie Kandie, Ryan Tiren in 85cc, Alex Kandie in 125cc, Ivanca Yongo in MX2, Fred Yongo and Fred Aoko in the Vets class. The Kenyan team will be Uganda’s tightest competition with really competitive and experienced riders.
Representing Tanzania so far are Masoud Seif, Ahmed Abdallah, Kevin Schmidt in MX1, as well as Johnson Ayo, and Mohamed Said. The entries from Rwanda and DRC are yet to be announced.
There will also be a sprint race with the Ugandan drivers getting ready for the pearl of Africa rally and confirmed for participation are Duncan Mubiru in his new Ford proto, Ponsiano Lwakataka in a Subaru N12B, Mark Lubega in a Subaru N10, Ronald Ssebuguzi in an Evo X, Mike Mukula Jr. in a Subaru Impreza N12, Hassan Alwi Jr. in a Subaru N14, and Arthur Blick Jr. in an Evo X. There will also be boda boda racing and small boats competition as well.
