The last round on the African Rally Championship (ARC) calendar is happening this weekend from 10-12 November in Tanzania closing out what has been an eventful season. Competitors and fans are eager to see who is crowned the 2023 African Rally Champion.
The event will kick off officially on Saturday, November 11 and will cover a total competitive distance of 183.36km with twelve stages to be run. Ugandans will be represented by Jas Mangat navigated Jules Escartefigue in their Hyundai i20 R5 (Mangat currently is second on the ARC standings with 111 points), Yasin Nasser navigated by Joseph Kamya in their Ford Fiesta R5 (Nasser is in third place with 93 points) and Innocent Bwamiki navigated by Hamza Lwanga in their Mitsubishi Lancer Evo 9 (competing in the ARC 2 class).
Kenya will be represented by Karan Patel (who is currently leading the ARC with 120 points) navigated by Tauseef Khan in their Ford Fiesta R5 and Hamza Anwar navigated by Adnan Din in their Mitsubishi Lancer Evo X. Patel has won four events this season; the Kenya Equator rally back in March, Rallye International du Burundi in August, Rwanda Mountain Gorilla rally in September, and the Zambia International Rally in October.
Prince Nyerere navigated by Shameer Yusuf in their Mitsubishi Lancer Evo X will be representing the host country Tanzania alongside Gurpal Sandhu navigated by Dave Sihoka in their Mitsubishi Lancer Evo X.
On a national level, ten crews will be taking part to secure their place on the Tanzania National Rally Championship; Manveer Birdi navigated by Manmeet Birdi in their Mitsubishi Lancer Evo 9, Ahmed Huwel navigated by Rahim Suleiman in their Ford Fiesta Proto, Randeep Singh navigated by Zubayr Piredina in their Mitsubishi Lancer Evo 9, Charles Bicco navigated by David Matete in their Subaru Impreza, Kelvin Taylor navigated by Karim Munisi in their Subaru Impreza, Vishal Patel navigated by Rumeet Nanji in their Subaru Impreza, Bob Taylor navigated by Monica Lyimo in their Subaru Impreza, Hamid Mbatta navigated by Mohamed Kimenya in their Subaru Impreza, Sultan Chana navigated by Modhar Hussein in their Subaru Impreza, and Isaack Taylor navigated by Said Hamisi in their Toyota Celica.
