Mike Mukula Jr. Scores Second Autocross Win in Gomba

Mike Mukula Jr and co-driver Edward Kiyinji in their Subaru Impreza N12 won their second Autocross Event in Gomba, Masaka on Sunday,28 August,2022; the event was organized by the MOSAC club and was the fourth Autocross event on the calendar.

The Mukula rally team had taken some time off after suffering a personal loss in his family but returned also to prepare for the next National Rally Championship round that is scheduled for September. Autocross events help drivers to prepare for Nationals and master all aspects of the car, finding out what is off and knowing where to improve especially with the design of the roads.

Mukula won the event in a time of 11:52 and was glad to be back in the car, getting ready for Kasanda round.

Mark Lubega and his navigator Daniel Mbabazi came in second place in their Subaru Impreza N10 at a time of 12:00. Lubega is one of the most improved drivers and it shows in every rally he takes part in.

In third place were Kiyimba Godfrey and co-driver Urban Mulindwa with a time of 12:52, Andrew Musoke and co-driver Hakim Mawanda came in fourth with a time of 12:56 in their Mitsubishi Evo6 and closing out the top five was Joshua Muwanguzi and his navigator Ritah Nakigozi in their Subaru Impreza N12 with a time of 13:09.

Taking part in his first official Autocross event was the very young winner of the FIA RALLY STAR Program for Uganda, Ali Ahmed Ashraf Jr the son of Dr. Ahmed Mohammed Ashraf the rally driver. He was navigated by his brother Anees Mohammed in their father’s Subaru Impreza N14; they finished overall seventh with a time of 14:23 which was impressive for his debut.

Drivers are getting ready for the next round on the NRC calendar which is the CMC Kasanda rally, Mityana in September.
