Uganda’s fifth round of Motocross (MX) is scheduled for Sunday, 03 July, 2022 at the Victoria Raceway Park-Garuga. This round is scheduled to determine which riders will represent Uganda in the very anticipated FIM Africa Championship that will be held in later in August.

Some African countries have chosen their teams like the team from South Africa; which will include Blade Tilley in the 85CC, Aiden Retief in the 65cc, and Kaylin Oosthuizen in the 50cc. Other countries to participate include Kenya, Tanzania, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Angola, Botswana, and Morocco.

Ugandan riders like the Katende brothers; Miguel and Jonathan, have been taking part in the Kenyan motocross rounds and fairing really well throughout. Kenyan riders like Dylan Hatanga in the 50cc, Natalie Kandie, Uhrie Yongo, and team captain Alex Kandie among others.

Riders from Uganda seem to be ready to compete with their counterparts after holding their own in the Central African Championship (CAC) event that was held back in April during the Easter weekend.

Fans are hoping to watch their favorites battle it out on the track for a spot to represent team Uganda. MX 65 leader Miguel Katende suffered a shoulder injury while in Kenya and could seat out this round. His brother Jonathan Katende will be competing along the Ntale brothers-Liam and Lionelle, Ally Kimera, and Ramathan Mubiru. The 65cc class fields the most competitors.

Veteran Arthur Blick Jr. is recovering from the accident he suffered steadily, his sons will be competing in different categories. Alestair Blick in MX1, Ethan James Blick in the 50cc, and Jayden George Blick. Fans are still holding on hope to see Arthur Blick representing the Veterans in the FIM event but time will tell.

The 85cc has stiff competition, with Jerome Mubiru and Mubarak Senoga Mayanja fighting for the number one spot, and Ron Young and Keith Deedan Aine on their tails. Also competing for the number one spot is Filbert Muwonge and Jamairah Makumbi in the 50cc category. Scrutineering of the bikes took place Saturday, 02nd July at Shell Rubaga road and Vivo energy unveiled its partnership with motocross going forward. They came in with a sponsorship package of UGX 100million. Other sponsors of the event include Mountain Dew, Lato milk, Uganda lodges, Fire and Safety appliances, KTM, and World Wide Movers. The next FIM event will be held in South Africa next year.
